Set in the magnificent Brecon Beacons National Park in south Wales, Country Craft Narrowboats offers wonderful boating holidays on the historic and scenic Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal.

Narrowboat hire - 2 night breaks (cruising or just moored)

The two night breaks are only available to book on a short notice basis of a maximum of 4 days prior to the hire. We are based on the Monmouth & Brecon canal just outside the village of Llangynidr which is midway between Brecon and Abergavenny in the Brecon Beacons National Park South Wales. The boat would be any suitable available on the day and we give full training for all cruising hires, both in driving the boat and operating the locks, novices are our speciality. Please note that as one person will be driving and one operating the locks small children and dogs will require close supervision and a little patience whilst negotiating the locks.

These 2 night breaks cannot be booked via the website but should you be able to come at short notice Contact Us up to 4 days in advance and, if we have a suitable boat available, we can make a booking for you.

Two overnights with cruising (up to 6 people - depending on the boat available)

Start days Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays - £350 for 2 people + £50 per extra person (£35 for child under 12)

Hire commences at 2.00pm on first day - return 9am on last day.

Two overnights, no cruising but just relaxing on the boat on a beautiful tree lined mooring just below a lock over the river Crawnon, 5 minutes walk along the canal bank to the local pub (up to 6 people - depending on the boat available)

Start days Tuesdays, Thursdays or Saturdays - £199 for 2 people + £50 per extra person (£35 for child under 12)

Hire commences at 2.00pm on first day - return 9am on last day.

Country Craft Narrowboats

Country Craft Narrowboats is located on the historic and scenic Monmouth & Brecon canal in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park in south Wales. The canal is just over 35 miles long and runs from the market town of Brecon to Five Locks at Cwmbran – with only six locks it follows the contours of the mountains above the beautiful Usk valley.

The rural towns and villages along the route offer pubs and restaurants for you to sample, walks for you to enjoy in the beautiful Usk valley, abundant wildlife, fishing and outstanding mountain scenery.

The hire base is between the five locks on the edge of the village of Llangynidr midway between Brecon and Abergavenny. The village is well known for the ancient and picturesque bridge over the River Usk. Novices are our speciality as our unique location enables us to give both full driving and practical lock instruction which we consider important for safe navigation. Lock assistance is also offered for less able customers.

Both the width and length of our narrowboats allow easy navigation on this smaller canal. The whole canal can be navigated in a week – however, we would recommend 10 or 11 days at an enjoyable pace.
